Calder Engineering Ltd are among the few fabricators who can offer a dedicated stainless steel workshop facility. Our dedicated facility is 200 m2 and is in addition to our carbon steel workshop facilities.
If stainless steel comes in to contact with carbon steel the result is cross contamination. This can be caused by using tools that have been used to work on carbon steel, letting carbon steel come in to contact with carbon steel work benches, any carbon steel materials, or airborne carbon steel particles which could be caused by grinding, in all of these scenarios the result will be cross contamination.
The consequences of cross contamination results in stainless steel oxidising/corroding and it will deteriorate long before the expected operation life span, in short it will fail in service.
